Workshop Objectives:

At the end of two years of activities of the FAPESP and British Council funded project on iterative approaches to inverse problems, jointly with UNIVAP, INPE and the University of Sussex, this Workshop will be held with the general purpose of providing a forum for discussion on new computational and mathematical methodologies for solving inverse problems, thus contributing to bridging two communities - inverse problems and new computational techniques - that have largely been kept apart from each other.

The main specific objectives of the workshop are:

* To act as a focus of convergence for the scattered community of researchers in the field of inverse problems in Brazil, in particular gathering momentum for the national organisation of a larger, international event in the near future;
* To learn from the various experiences of the participants, which should be useful during the second half of our project; and
* To share our experience so far with the wider practising community in the country, as well as subjecting our own achievements to our peers' scrutiny.
